Lucy Maternity Pics and an Update...

We were lucky to get any pictures recently when we had a photo shoot with our photographer.  Lyla was in quite the 2 year-old mood, and mommy and daddy were, well, let's just say a little bickering *might* have occurred.  We were also in a race against the weather.  Rain in Lubbock?!  Yep...on the one night we could take pictures.  I emailed our sweet photographer afterward to apologize for the traumatic time she endured with us!

Lucy is clearly growing day by day.  No major progress at the doctor, but still a few signs that she's getting ready to come.  Last night Lyla ran over to me, pulled up my shirt and said, "Lucy! Want a sticker?  Okay, I'll be right back.  Stay right there."  Super cute and very typical Lyla. :-)  We began talking about how the doctor will take Lucy out of my tummy and that mommy will sleep at the hospital for a couple of days.  She seems to understand, but I guess that's really yet to be seen!

This pregnancy, while not completely enjoyable, has been better than my first.  In a way, I'm sad to think that I might not ever be pregnant again (What? Gasp!  Would that really make me sad?!) but I'm also really done with being pregnant.  My doctor asks every week if I want to induce, but I keep telling her no.  Sweet Lucy will come when she's ready, even if mommy has to endure this a bit longer than I'd prefer.

Cross your fingers that the next post is full of fun little sister/big sister pictures!

Day 5: The Realities...

July 20, 2014 Afternoon:  Well, we moved down the hall to a different ICU room.  Our new nurse is like a drill sergeant grandma…sweet but serious. Warning: This is about to get real.  If you are offended by foul language, you might skip this post.  If you don't like the ugly truth, you might skip this post. So, here's the deal.  I've been thinking a lot today about reality.  Living in the moment.  Not worrying about tomorrow and next week and next month.  But that's hard for me.  I'm a planner and I have to plan ahead some because I'm here and the girls are being shuffled around and everyone is being so incredibly kind and offering help.  It all overwhelms me and I get to a place of feeling like "Screw this, I can't do it.  This is shitty.  There's just no other way to say it."  And then I get a text or a call or a hug that brings me back to a different reality; one in which hundreds of people are rooting us on in th...

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

Friday Night Lights - A Poem...

The Friday night lights were back in full swing. Lyla arrived at the game asleep in her sling. All was well, the lights were bright. Little did we know that the end was in sight. The speaker came on and proclaimed domination. And that, dear friends, led to overstimulation. So we packed up our baby and checked on the time. The game started at seven-thirty, We left at seven-thirty-nine. The end.
