Time to catch up...

Well, this would be only the second post in two months, in which we have something to announce...drumroll please...
What? You guessed it? Yep, we are getting another dog!
Ok, I kid...unless my husband shows up with another stray, in which case it might be another two months between posts. Oh, right, back to the big announcement...
We're pregnant!!!!!
Now that we have that all clear (some of you might have been confused by the pictures I'm sure), let's discuss the reasons for the two-month hiatus between posts. This has been due to many reasons. Let's start from the beginning...

1. Sickness.

2. Sickness.

3. Sickness.

4. Memory loss that I started a blog.

5. Sickness.

So, that's what we've been up to the past few weeks! Things are beginning to look up around the Hoelscher household though, with the sickness only making a few appearances throughout the week. The baby bump has made a bold appearance (as seen in the pics) and has claimed it's space rather triumphantly! Matt has been amazing from the beginning - I couldn't ask for a more attentive hubby. (Thanks...I'll pay you back someday!)

We've had quite a few ultrasounds, which has been an awesome experience. We love getting to see Baby Dot - our name for the little one since our first glimpse of the baby was literally just a dot. Baby Dot is growing strong and is wiggly, wiggly, wiggly! (I can't feel it yet, we've just seen all the wiggles.) At our 9-week appointment we saw the baby move for the first time...amazing to say the least. We should be finding out soon if Baby Dot is a girl or boy. We've been convinced that it's a girl from the beginning - guess we'll see!

Just a side note, the lack of sickness on Thanksgiving day was a total gift from God...I was so grateful to enjoy the yummy food and fun company of my family!

So, based on the bump, how far along are we?!?! Not quite as far as expected...
Top picture = 12 weeks
Bottom picture = 16 weeks
Told you Baby Dot has made a bold appearance!

Day 5: The Realities...

July 20, 2014 Afternoon:  Well, we moved down the hall to a different ICU room.  Our new nurse is like a drill sergeant grandma…sweet but serious. Warning: This is about to get real.  If you are offended by foul language, you might skip this post.  If you don't like the ugly truth, you might skip this post. So, here's the deal.  I've been thinking a lot today about reality.  Living in the moment.  Not worrying about tomorrow and next week and next month.  But that's hard for me.  I'm a planner and I have to plan ahead some because I'm here and the girls are being shuffled around and everyone is being so incredibly kind and offering help.  It all overwhelms me and I get to a place of feeling like "Screw this, I can't do it.  This is shitty.  There's just no other way to say it."  And then I get a text or a call or a hug that brings me back to a different reality; one in which hundreds of people are rooting us on in th...

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

Friday Night Lights - A Poem...

The Friday night lights were back in full swing. Lyla arrived at the game asleep in her sling. All was well, the lights were bright. Little did we know that the end was in sight. The speaker came on and proclaimed domination. And that, dear friends, led to overstimulation. So we packed up our baby and checked on the time. The game started at seven-thirty, We left at seven-thirty-nine. The end.
